The Pickleback is a shot of whiskey followed by a pickle brine chaser, in our case it's Paddy's Irish Whisky and The Brinery's Optimus Brine.
This counter-intuitively delicious drink is credited to a bar in Williamsburg Brooklyn who happened to be sharing space with Detroit's own McClure's Pickles when inspiration struck. Like all great bar innovations the idea spread, with Detroit and Brooklyn as the epicenters of popularity. So while we didn't invent Pickleback, we've made it our own, and in doing so have partnered with one of Ann Arbor's other great innovators, The Brinery.
As odd, or even disgusting as drinking whiskey and pickle juice in succession might sound, please trust us. It's really really surprisingly good.
